North American Nebula | Caldwell 20

C20 is an emission nebula that primarily emits Hydrogen-Alpha radiation that emits as infrared light. It gets its nickname from the resemblance it has from the North American continent.

I used my Canon EOS 700Da equipped with a 90-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Canon EF lens.

Whirlpool Galaxy | Messier 51

M51 is a spiral galaxy that is especially unique because it is interacting with a smaller galaxy it known as M51b.

I used my new Astromodified Canon EOS 700D equipped with a 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6 Canon EF lens.

I shot this image at 300mm at f/5.6 and each sub frame was 1”

Total Integration Time: 1hour 50minutes

Whirlpool Galaxy (M51)

Whirlpool Galaxy (Messier 51)

This galaxy is currently merging with a second, smaller, galaxy known as NGC 5195 or Messier 51b.

I took this image using my Canon EOS 400D using a 70-210mm f/4-5.6 lens. This image was taken at 200mm (320mm if you include crop factor of sensor) at f/5.6

Each sub frame was a 1" exposure.

Total exposure time was 2hrs 3mins (123 frames)

International Space Station Passing Over

ISS Passing over mid-shooting the Rosette Nebula

Today, while taking images of the Rosette Nebula (NGC 2244) the International Space Station passed through. When I finished taking the images I put the card onto my PC to look at the frames I had taken and saw this one had an oddly bright line through it with another line next to it, it was way too bright to be a satellite and the line didn't match that of an aircraft. I then went onto Stellarium and checked back at around the time that specific frame would have been taken and indeed it was the ISS, I could see on Stellarium that the ISS passed just left of the nebula!

This isn't really of an interesting pic to see however I thought it was quite cool given what it was and the chances of this happening on accident!

Orion's Nebula (M42)

The Great Nebula in Orion, Messier 42

This image was taken over the course of 5 nights.

I used a Canon EOS 400D with the Star Adventurer GTi for tracking. I used my 210mm lens at f/5.6 ISO1600.

Each exposure was 35"

Total Exposure Time was 2hours 59mins.

The Pleiades "7 Sisters" (M45)

The Pleiades star cluster (Messier 45)

I used a Canon EOS 400D with a Star Adventurer GTi and a 210mm lens at f/5.6.

Exposure lengths were 40" per frame.

Andromeda Galaxy and M110 (M31)

Andromeda Galaxy (Messier 31) and M110 (dwarf elliptical galaxy that is a satellite of Andromeda)

This was taken using my Canon EOS 400D along with the Star Adventurer GTi for star tracking. Equipped with a 210mm lens at f/5.6.

Exposure length per frame was 30".

This was my first time using my new Star Adventurer GTi.
